Booking an x-ray

Booking an x-ray at a Hospital in East Kent🏥

This site allows you to book an appointment for an x-ray.

Please note this service is for x-rays only - Ultrasounds, CT & MRI scans will continue to be by prior appointment only.

The signed x-ray referral form that you have received from your doctor needs to be brought with you when you attend for the appointment. This is vital – without it we will not be able to perform your x-ray.

This booking service, implemented to help maintain social distancing within the hospitals, is now available at all our hospitals across East Kent:

William Harvey Hospital - Ashford Royal Victoria Hospital - Folkestone
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital - Margate Buckland Hospital - Dover
Kent & Canterbury Hospital - Canterbury Victoria Hospital - Deal
Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital - Herne Bay Faversham Medical Practice - Faversham

To begin booking please select your chosen site at the bottom of the page.

Unfortunately, not all patients will be able to book using this service, if any of following applies:

  1. You are pregnant

  2. You require the use of a hoist

  3. Your referral is for one of the following: Scoliogram; Skull; TMJ; Sinus; Nasal Bones; Facial Bones; Orbits; Coccyx; Mastoids; Sterno-clavicular Joints; Sternum; Ribs; or a Dental/OPG x-ray

  4. You have fallen and your Doctor suspects a broken neck, back or hip

or if you are unable to book on the portal for any other reason, please telephone one of the below numbers to speak to a member of our admin team who will be able to assist (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm).

On arrival, please report to the reception area to book in. You will then be directed to the correct waiting area.

Dependent on the examination, you may be asked to change into a hospital gown prior to your examination. When it is your turn, you will be called into the x-ray room by the radiographer.

Whilst every endeavour will be made to see you at your appointment time, please be aware we run an inpatient, A&E and Minor Injuries service alongside our GP service so there may be a short delay depending on workload when you arrive.

Following the examination, the report from the x-rays will be sent directly to your doctor. This will usually be within 7-10 days. Please contact your doctor if you have not received your results after this time.

What if I need to change my appointment?
Within the confirmation text message and email that you will receive as part of the booking confirmation, there is the facility to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel or reschedule as soon as possible to allow the appointment to be available to other patients.
